Free Stuff Happens To Cool People

So last night was Jessica's 19th birthday, and Yany and Shuu rented a motel room here where Michael and I are staying to spend the night comfortably. They came early in the afternoon and we went to the beach for awhile, where the highlight was the most retarded and pathetic attempt at playing frisbee ever. Damn those posh kids in the movies who look so cool playing frisbee on the beach shore effortlessly! *shakes angry fist*

Anyway. A few nights ago Michael had opened the door to our room in the middle of the night to go have a smoke, and was startled as he almost stepped on a dude passed out infront of our door sitting next to a pack of beers. Turns out this guy was a temporary manager at the strip joint a little down the street from here. Michael helped the guy into his room, which was incidentally the one right across the hall from ours. In return Michael received two free beers. Now then, last night we needed someone to go buy our "party supplies" for us, and because Michael helped him out the other night, he gladly went and bought everything we needed without qualms. Later we invited him to the room to have a couple of drinks in return. While he was in the room he told us the next day he was leaving on a Grey Hound back to Colorado to work at the strip joint he had been at there before, because they were doubling his pay and such, and of course he accepted. Now, he said he needed to get rid of things that would do him no good in Colorado anymore. Amongst these things was a Motorolla RAZR cell phone. At first he offered to sell it for $50, but none of us had that sort of money. Then, after stepping out for a smoke or something and coming back, he proposed that if someone drove him to the Grey Hound bus station in St. Pete he would not only pay for gas, but give up the RAZR cell for free, which still has another month of service left on it. Of course, Michael and I agreed. So, now we have a new cell phone and a good half tank of gas, for virtually no effort.

Our whole stay we've been extremely lucky and gotten a lot of things from people. Especially Joe. Joe is this Indian guy who works at the front desk and also lives in the motel, on the second floor. He's friendly, and silly, and sometimes drunk on the job. He is also extremely giving and generous. For some reason he's taken a liking to Michael and I. Especially in me. He said that he looks at me like a daughter. He talks to us when he's around, smokes with Mike outside, jokes around, makes sure we're ok. One night Michael and I wanted to scrounge up some spare change to get a little something from the Taco Bell drive-thru and we couldn't find any, and Amscot was closed -_-; So, when we walked back into the motel and spotted Joe and some other motel guest chilling and smoking illegally in the little kitchen breakfast dining side room place, and we asked if they had any random change they didn't want. The one guest dude gave Michael $1 and while they talked about something Joe asked me what we had been eating and when I tried to tell him about the ramen and such he was like "no, don't lie to me" and handed me a $10 and told me to go use it to buy food. I of course was like "no, no, I can't take this" but he insisted so I ended up doing it.

So yea, stuff like this keeps on happening to us, which is a good thing since who knows where we would be without these random strokes of charity and good luck for no apparent reason. Michael claims it's his charisma. I can't say what it is, but I don't think I've ever experienced this much of it before. It's nice to see the good and generous side of the world for a change.
