Elevation: 3,000 Feet Above The Ground

Well, you’d think my first time in New York I’d actually be able to go out and –see- the place, but no. I was just passing through. Besides, everyone had warned me to stay at the Gate in the JFK airport, because New York was a dangerous place to wander around in unawares.

I almost didn’t make my flight this morning. The plan was to get everything packed and watch TV or chill until about 7 when I would start getting ready, rather than sleeping any. I’d sleep on the plane. Instead, I found my eyelids getting too heavy to keep up by 3:30 am and decided to take a nap. A mistake, of course. I set both alarms. One for 6:00 am, the other for 6:15, just in case. Somewhere between 6 and 6:30 I, either consciously or unconsciously I don’t remember, turned off my alarm instead of pressing the snooze button. I miraculously awoke of my own accord promptly at 7:30 am, the time I had planned to be –leaving- my house for the airport. Already running late. What else is new? -_-;

Soooo…..the flight was to leave at 9:35 am, and I got there about 9:05. They said I was late, that they had started boarding already at 9:00, and that they would try, but there was the off chance that they wouldn’t be able to put my luggage on the same flight as me, and would be sent on the next flight to Boston. Oh joy, my luggage was now in probable air-traffic limbo. All I knew is that I had better get my stuff asap. If they lost it someone was going to get hurt. Or at least severely yelled or glared at.

I managed to rush through everything, despite the sort of long line at the security check-point, and made it just in time on to the plane. I got to sit at the window seat next to a pair of old ladies. I felt ever so slightly claustrophobic surrounded by all those people and seats without a fast and easy escape route at a moments notice if I needed it. I managed though.

The ride was all right, though the take off was slightly unnerving for me since I hadn’t flown in what must have been years now. It was mostly just me being paranoid and tense though, nothing major. And it didn’t give me the sinus pressure headache that I was expecting. The seats were comfy leather ones, and they had little screens in front of each where one could either watch over 36 DirecTV channels or several XM Satellite radio stations. I channel surfed for a bit sleepily before deciding that radio was less distracting in my pursuit of some shut-eye. I must say I didn’t get a whole lot though, what with wanting to look at the little perfectly laid out toy towns and buildings and villages, the little model cars zooming along the lines here and there….not to mention general curiosity and nosey-ness about the flight attendants and their going-abouts and the passengers around me. The flight attendant Cameron was hot. But possibly gay. Are there really many straight flight attendants? Even if they are straight, it’s hard to tell what with their perfectly manicured appearances.

So now I’m sitting in JFK International Airport where I can’t get the free wifi to work on my computer…she’s shy. It always takes her a little while to warm up and connect to strangers, unfortunately. It’s 1:02 pm and my flight is supposed to start boarding at 1:20 pm. I’m not sure though, I’m going to ask someone because at Gate 12, where my flight is supposed to be, there is another flight departing at 1:10 pm, which is now being delayed, and I’m not sure if the information they gave me is still completely current or what. I’ll go ask now. I should probably stretch my legs and get a drink and go to the bathroom before I have to board anyway, huh?

Well, wish me luck in Massachusetts. It’s going to be awkward and weird to meet his family…hopefully a million times less awkward than meeting –my- parents…Although I think it’s almost impossible that it be more than that at all lol. I’ll be back the 27th or so, I’ll go online and/or accept phone calls to my new cell phone number: 813-966-4136. Love yall, I’ll try to take lots of pictures!

P.S. What I did see of NY from the plane’s window as it passed above, was many huge and absolutely gorgeous houses that I would love to ever afford and own. Really, really beautiful. Maybe it was like…The Hamptons or one of those expensive areas or something, I dunno.

Ciao bambinos!
