Everything takes too long. Especially when you're trying to get back on your feet and things keep on knocking you down every chance they get.
The lease is ending at the end of December, so we started looking for new, cheap, and renters history check free. My mother found us one place-- a house that had been split in two and it was a cozy two bedroom duplex with a large kitchen in Plantation for I think $750 a month, all-inclusive. We decided that it was best to pay them the deposit by check to have records. So, we put all our paycheck in the bank and wrote the check out and turned it over. The next day they called and claimed that they were going to have to cancel our arrangement since their family from Cuba was coming and they needed to give them the place to stay. The truth we later realized was that the cash advance place had tried to cash Michael's hold check that had bounced ages ago and had taken all our money and overdrafted us, thus causing the people to not be able to cash our check. Obviously not a good first impression, but the harm had already been done.
We then found a townhouse with another pair of roommates off of Gunn, also pretty close, for about $600 a month, all-inclusive. Sounded good, but when we got there, it was a 19-year-old Air Force tech and his senior in highschool girlfriend. The place was closterphobic, and worst off, they had a kitten. While always cute and a thrill, also always an instant attack to my immune system.....allergies vetoed that place. Plus, later they texted us that they wanted to add us to the lease and it was $40 for the application, after stating repeatedly that there was no application process or anything for us to worry about. So much for that. We should probably call them to let them know we definately can't do it, in case they hadn't already assumed it.
Sure, looks pretty glum. But, hark! There's still hope. I decided that instead of looking for posts, I should put up a post on craigslist in the wanted housing section detailing our situation and needs. I got one douchebag without a life criticising what I had written, but despite his comments and negativity, I did get several responses (though several people seemed to overlook the Tampa location part). One of these was for a 3300 square foot house on Lake Magdalene off of Bearss Ave, on like 5 acres of land, for $550 a month. This guy is a divorcee and has like 5 kids who are there every other weekend, he works two jobs and is hardly at home, and he likes dogs. We checked out the place...it's in the middle of nowhere but close to everything once you get to Dale Mabry and the guy seems pretty cool. You can practically go hiking in his back yard! The house is sort of ugly because theres hardly any furniture or decoration, and it was built in like the 70s...and theres like blue and magenta carpet...But he said we could paint and decorate our room however, and I could decorate other parts of the house too if I wanted, as long as it wasn't anything too crazy. The only thing now is fixing my car so we can get there and to work and such.
The third and final option, which my mother just suggested this morning after warning us for months that they wouldn't allow it, is to move back in with them for awhile to not have to pay rent and get back on our feet. Michael of course doesn't really see it as much of an option.
