I'm sitting here eating some good ol' Cheeto's in the afterglow of a quirky, twisted but strangely feel-good movie (Wristcutters: A Love Story). The soundtrack played on my heartstrings and I'm currently in the pursuit of many of its selections.
The important thing though, is this wonderful feeling of tranquility that has finally washed over me and lifted me out of the dark place I was in as recently as this morning. I need to go out for a nature walk or something...it's the only kind of things that suits this light feeling inside...I imagine it's something similar to what people in meditation or some such act would feel...inner peace? Who knows. But it just feels so good. I hope this feeling stays with me long enough to tackle my homework and other dilemmas...
So, for lack of anything else to really talk about at the moment, I will tell you a bit about this movie I just saw and enjoyed.
The first scene was rather blunt and sort of got to me...The guy wakes up, puts on some music, cleans his house and then walks into the bathroom, runs the sink, and the next thing you know, he's sinking to the floor, and you see the sink full of blood and puddles quickly forming around his arms.
The place he goes to isn't quite hell....but is terrible...it's just like life, but a little worse/suckier...for lack of a better term. They have quite interesting rules, like no one has the ability to smile, and there are no starts in the sky. It makes you realize how much those little things are joys in life and how much they really mean to you. I won't spoil anymore, but the ending is a mixture of a little cliche, a little weird, and definitely makes you smile. It's a shame it was only shown in select theaters (at Tampa Theater here). I'm glad I was pleasantly reminded of it.
