Toot, toot! All aboard!

Things are going well, I can tell. I sat down and randomly drew something, from start to finish, that's more than a funky stupid sketch, and I haven't done that in months, possibly edging on years. It's weird, but I love it because I gave birth to it after so long.

I started school today. I have at the moment, pending any schedule changes, one class every day Monday through Saturday. Except for Friday, where I have two. I will be working 4 hours a day Sunday through Thursday, as well. Today I had Creative Writing. I tried taking this class at USF (twice actually), and although I liked the old cooky professor, it wasn't enough to motivate me to get to his class, along with the others. I only produced one piece of writing, which the professor really liked, and said showed a lot of promise, I just needed a little more grooming. I'm going to dig that short story up (one of the only short stories I've even been able to produce thus far, so I'm proud of it) and see what my new professor, Mrs. Kim, thinks of it. She's a young and pretty Korean woman who is fairly candid and likes to let the student's creative process do its stuff without too much pushing. We chose if and when we do any of the writing assignments she offers us, as long as we get at least some pieces work-shopped in class, and we have all the required assignments to compile into our Final Portfolio. This is good for me, because sometimes writing or doing anything creative takes me a little while to push it out entirely.

I'm also signed up for Math for Liberal Arts (Dear God not again!!!! I am like a hawk waiting and waiting for some people to drop the College Algebra classes that are full to the brim so that I might gleefully switch.), Modern American History (I really don't like American History, I like European better, but I have to take it pretty much at some point, and I'll learn some stuff that I should probably know more about that I don't, I hope.), and 4 weeks of Art Appreciation (An easy A...). I think I'm going to do well this semester, finally.

Anyway, I lost my steam, so here's that weird drawing I did for you to enjoy until I post again!

Tah Dah! (excuse the bad picture quality, digital cameras are not the best way to capture drawings):

High Five!

I just found out today that I managed to get a B in the Humanities class I was retaking for grade forgiveness! I'm actually surprised, I was expecting maybe a C seeing as how I had to have done pretty poorly on the last exam which I missed most of the lecture for and didn't get to read the chapters for. And the one before that wasn't the best experience either. But I suppose I must have done better than I thought to have managed a B, even with all my absences. It's definitely good news. I will pass my HTML class as well, and I should be able to do a late withdrawal from the other two classes, thus technically passing the 2 classes I completed and meeting the whole 2.0 a semester rule to get out of probation and be able to receive my loan monies and have extra funds again in the Fall if I'm lucky!

Maybe I won't be working full-time during the Fall after all if I can get the probation status removed....but that'll just make quitting the decent part time job I have now and finding a full-time job until August really not worth it, since its at most 2 months away. *sigh* And having two part-time jobs can be a real pain in the ass....Maybe I'll at least find a job where I can work full time or part time? I dunno. Not to mention trying to move out of my parents' house some time soon....oi.

In other news, I forgot Hippos existed....much less that their full name is Hippopautomus. They're such strange animals....it's like a manatee and a pig mixed together or something. And man, can they open their mouths up real wide! Lol sorry, watching the National Geographic Channel.

Oops...

I almost forgot about this thing again.

Good news - I should have passed my Humanities class I was retaking, and HTML class is going well. School is pretty much over, except for another 2 weeks or so of the online HTML class, but I think I can handle it.

Bad News - I have to go through a bunch of stupid crap and people to get withdrawn without a grade from my Sociology class that the teacher essentially refused to let me try to pass...long story, but because of a math class, or rather lack there of, a hold was placed on my online registrations so now I have to take the long way around.

I'm slightly proud of myself.....I mean at least I tried and did alright at 2 of my classes this time. And although it might seem pathetic to some, any sort of success is a big deal after failing miserably more than once. I might take it easy in the Fall though. Since I took the Spring/Summer classes this year, I don't really have to take classes in the Fall if I don't want to, since it would be like my "summer". It's definitely more convenient, what with all of the holidays during that time of year anyway. But the downside/upside is that I would have to work full-time, and preferably at a real job. You know, no more delivery driving at a Deli for barely permissible wages and half decent tips (immediate cash every other day has its benefits, but it doesn't last past a few days usually). Trade it in for a $10/hr or more full time office job, along with the company politics and somber professional pants, skirts, and sweaters. Not to mention not really being able to take days off when you want/need to.

That's the biggest thing I'm not really ready to give up. If I want or need a day off for a trip or homework or I just don't feel good, I can request it off. If I work at a full-time position where they need and expect me to be there every day, all 8 hours, I'm not going to have that sort of freedom. Unless I want to quit and find another dinky job. Not to mention that I'll probably have to do that anyway when I take classes again, unless I manage to find all online classes or some sort of ridiculous deal like that. The upside is steady decent money to move out and live on and start paying off our debts with.

Well, that's the current dilemma, and I'll start e-mailing my resume around anyway while I seriously weigh the scales, but you never know. There's always the chance I'll win the lottery and be set for at least the next 5 years. Here's to hoping and my new bottle of Jack Daniel's complete with J.D. BBQ sauce and brush.
